Crating aircraft was one of the most difficult crating skills we had to learn to master. A wise man once told us on day one: “Boys, this here is a flying soda can.” This explanation of an aircraft’s fragility and strength quickly got our attention. He taught us the necessity of exacting cradles and placement to packcage these oxymoronic parts. The points of attachment are incredibly strong and the rest is easily damaged if simply touched improperly; however, the whole thing is incredibly resilient once in the air. This wise man now calls upon us for every job and has our undying admiration and respect. Thank you, Dave; you made us better at every aspect of our craft.
